Color Palette for a Prairie Style Home

Having started in the Midwest, the Prairie School of design dealt with four seasons of weather -- green leaves and grass in the spring and summer, red, yellow whites and blue colors in flowers, spring through fall, brown and grays of tree trunk and soil, with orange and beige tints to the clay, deep purple, burgundy, fire red, orange, orchre, amber and gold of the leaves and plants in the fall. Basic earthen colors were used. Colors had a muted-look, yet rich. Wall and ceilings were banded with wood trim. With all the trim on the wall and ceilings, there was an opportunity to use several colors on the wall in the room. Here are some color palettes for a Prairie style room. These are your basic earthen hue colors. The colors are not bright nor jewel tones. They have a "muted" look, yet a rich tone can be achieved in the color. For those who want to add a few more colors, the rule of thumb is to keep it muted like the colors below:
